I have always enjoyed shooting landscapes in my free time...I guess you could call it "my hobby."

I will usually scout out locations making notes about when I think the best time of the day, or year,  is to come back. I always have a compass with me so I can predict the suns alignment with the location for various times of the day.  Weather is also a deciding factor about returning for the shoot, as dramatic weather makes for dramatic photographs.

Of course, there are always those times when I come across a scene that just can't be more perfect.  It takes no planning except where to set the tripod and how to compose the frame.  I couldn't tell you how many U turns my family has endured over the years...I'm sure a staggering amount.

Cities and suburban areas present the same opportunities. Although, they are typically more spontaneous in nature.
